“I have zero regrets. It was the best decision I ever made.”

As a mother of two young children, Brittany Steinkirchner didn’t want anything holding her back.

“I wanted to be the best mom I could be to my children,” she said. “Part of that means being able to run with them at the park and kick the soccer ball.”

But Steinkirchner’s health had increasingly impacted her over the past 10 years.

“I have battled with my weight,” she said. “It really started to make itself known.”

After the birth of her first daughter, Steinkirchner attempted to make dietary changes on multiple occasions but to no avail. Searching for a lifestyle change, she learned about The Center for Bariatrics at Bailey Medical Center. She attended her first meeting in November 2021 and had the sleeve gastrectomy in March 2022.

As of August 2022, Steinkirchner lost a total of 105 pounds since she first went to Bailey. But her success has been about much more than a number.

She now participates in cycling and has even signed up for a spin class. She’s more active with her children and joins them on the swing set at the local park. During a doctor’s visit in summer 2022, Steinkirchner was no longer considered pre-diabetic, a condition she had been diagnosed with since she was 18.

“That was really awesome,” she said. “I hadn’t really thought about it until I went to the doctor’s office. It made me realize I was taking back my health.”

Steinkirchner lauded the Bailey Bariatrics team for their dedication to her health.

“I love the staff at Bailey,” she said. “Everyone is so kind and encouraging. You realize that surgery, that’s not really the end. It’s just the beginning of the journey. I’ve had a huge support system there. I think that’s why I’ve been so successful.”

For those looking for answers on their health journey, Steinkirchner suggests turning to the Bailey Bariatrics staff.

“If you’re thinking about it, I would do it,” she said. “I have zero regrets. It was the best decision I ever made.”
