a.k.a your “new normal”
4 MONTHS AFTER SURGERY:
- Crunchy fruits and vegetables, including salads – some foods like apple skins, coconut and some nuts always need to be avoided. These foods can’t be chewed to applesauce consistency.
- Lean Pork
6 MONTHS AFTER SURGERY: Beef. Limit to 1-2 times per week to keep diet low in saturated fats, especially if you have heart disease
Tip: Avoid high fat meats (ex: bologna, bacon, pepperoni, ground chuck) and fried foods.
Tip: Think about starting pork and beef with a meatball. Cook in broth or tomato sauce for moist, tender meatballs.
