3-6 Weeks After

Soft/Pureed Protein

Three weeks post-op:

Soft fish: Fillet of sole, red snapper, flounder, cod, tilapia, orange roughy, crappie, trout, whiting, catfish, swai, tuna and salmon

Other seafood: shellfish (ex. Shrimp, lobster, crab, scallops) and tougher fish (swordfish, shark, mahi-mahi) will need to be pureed

Four weeks post-op:

Soft or pureed low-fiber vegetables such as green beans or carrots. Texture needs to be like canned vegetables, use pureed baby food vegetables. Avoid: hard, large seeds, tough skins, corn, celery and stalks of broccoli.

Six weeks post-op:

Thinned mashed potatoes with skim or 1% milk. Make sure there are no lumps in the mashed potatoes before swallowing.
